Muhammad top name for baby boys in England and Wales
In 2023, Mohammed became the top choice for parents in England and Wales to name their baby boys, with more than 4,600 children registered for the name.
Mohammed has been in the top 10 names for baby boys since 2016, but has now overtaken previous favorite Noah, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Olivia remains the most popular choice for baby girls, followed by Amelia and Ella. Since 2022, these top three remain unchanged.
New entrants to the girls’ top 100 are Lilah, Raya and Hazel, while Jax, Enzo and Bodhi join the boys’ top 100.
Pop culture “continues to influence” name choices, with royal names becoming less popular in 2023, part of an ongoing trend, the Office for National Statistics said on Thursday.
Data on the most popular baby names in 2022 is Released in May last year in the process of resource changes.
A release date for the 2024 Most Popular Collection has yet to be determined.
