Germany’s Economy Minister Calls for Stable Investment Climate in Africa

German Deputy Chancellor and Economics Minister Robert Habeck emphasized the need for a “safe and stable” environment to promote German investment in Africa. Habeck made the statement on Tuesday at the opening of the fifth German-African Business Summit in Nairobi, Kenya. He revealed that although Africa currently only accounts for 1% of Germany’s foreign investment, Africa contains huge growth opportunities. He said political stability in Africa not only attracts investment but also improves the lives of citizens. Kenyan cabinet chief Musalia Mudavadi echoed Habeck’s remarks, urging the reduction of bureaucratic barriers and the establishment of a clearer legal framework to promote foreign direct investment in the continent. Both leaders highlighted Africa’s untapped potential in areas such as energy and infrastructure, with Mudawadi praising Germany’s role in job creation and technology transfer in Kenya.
