A Training Course for Family Office Investors
Ray Dalio has published best-selling books detailing his views on life, work, and geopolitics. Now the founder and former chief investment officer of hedge fund Bridgewater Associates is offering his “Principles” investing series to financial professionals through an online course.
The Singapore Wealth Management Institute launched the Dalio Market Principles for Strategic Investments in Family Office program in September, an accredited subscription-based certificate program that teaches Dalio the principles he used when building Bridgewater Associates and his own family office. Dalio, who retired from Bridgewater Associates last year, has a long-standing relationship with WMI and Singapore. He and Bridgewater Associates have managed funds for Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund for more than 30 years, and Dalio’s own family office has been headquartered in Singapore for about 30 years.
This program, along with Dalio’s Principles of Markets and Economics online program and various certification programs for wealth management and finance professionals, are available through WMI’s Online Learning Center.
When Dalio announced the course earlier this year, he said it would focus on “the timeless and universal principles that drive markets and economies, investment skill development, and strategies tailored to the unique circumstances faced by family offices.”
In the wide-ranging podcast interview, Dalio discussed topics including cryptocurrencies, which he said accounted for only a “small portion” of his portfolio.
“You have to think about what alternative currencies are,” Dalio said. “Gold remains the third largest reserve currency – the dollar, the euro, gold and then the yen,” he said. “So I prefer gold.” ”
Dalio’s plans are for sale to all Singapore residents; other locations are under consideration. It covers topics including investing and trading strategies, economic and market principles, and debt and deleveraging cycles.
It also includes excerpts, examples and videos from Dalio’s books and other media. “Principles” was originally published in 2017 and became a bestseller. This was followed in 2021 by Principles for Responding to a Changing World Order.
