Nigeria Pushes for Global Economic Inclusion at Nigeria-South Africa Summit
Nigeria has called on South Africa to support its bid to become a full member of the G20, BRICS and BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) organizations. The call was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, at the 11th Nigeria-South Africa Bilateral Commission (BNC) meeting in Cape Town. South Africa currently holds the G20 chair, becoming the first African country to hold the G20 chair. In addition, it is also an important member of the BRICS group, which accounts for about 37% of the world’s GDP. South Africa’s International Relations Minister Dr Roland Lamola acknowledged Nigeria’s request and pledged that Pretoria would strengthen Africa’s voice during its tenure as G20 leader. He stressed that the two countries are committed to strengthening bilateral relations and improving the quality of life of citizens of both countries.
