Manchester United: Luke Shaw ‘devastated’ at latest injury setback
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw says he is “shocked” after suffering another injury problem that will keep him out for several weeks.
Club sources say the injury is a new one and not a recurrence of a previous problem.
The 29-year-old has been out for the club since February due to injury and has made just three substitute appearances this season.
Xiao wrote on social media: “It breaks my heart to write this because I really thought I had gotten over my recent struggles and was on a positive path forward, but unfortunately I met a little frustration.”
“I’ve been through a lot, a lot of ups and downs, but this was my toughest time.
“I am completely devastated and it is extremely difficult to accept reality at this time.
“I know people are going to be frustrated, angry, disappointed, and I understand that. No one feels that more than me at this moment.”
Despite struggling with injuries at United, Shaw was named in Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, making two substitute appearances in the knockout stages before starting the 2-1 defeat to Spain in the final.
He came on as a substitute in the first game against Ipswich Town on 24 November, his last competitive appearance.
