Gloucester: George Skivington ‘concerned’ by Mercer & Thorley injuries
Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington said he was “concerned” about the extent of injuries to number eight Zack Mercer and winger Ollie Thorley.
Both England internationals suffered knee problems during England’s 24-17 Premier League win over Northampton on Saturday, with Solly being substituted after just 19 minutes.
Skivington told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: “I’m worried and, to be honest, from what I’ve seen of the two boys over the past few days, I don’t think they’re going to be good-looking people.”
“I always make a conscious effort to be careful about what I say or think because sometimes it’s worse and sometimes it’s not that bad, but looking at the situation right now, I don’t think either one is going to get better particularly quickly.”
The former Leicester City player said Mercer and Solley will “probably” undergo scans on Wednesday.
Gloucester begin their European tour this Friday in the Challenge Cup when they take on Scottish side Edinburgh at Kingsholm.
