BetMcLean Cup: Glentoran knock holders Linfield out of last-16 as Crues beat Swifts in last eight
James Douglas scored a late winner for Glentoran as they knocked defending champions Linfield out of the BetMcLean Cup in the last 16.
Douglas scored the only goal of the game with three minutes remaining in the rearranged tie at Windsor Park to give the Glen their third win of the season against their Big Two rivals.
Glentoran last won the competition in 2010 and will face Ballymena United in the quarter-finals.
But the more disappointing derby games for David Healy’s side were the 3-1 defeat to the Glens at Windsor Park in October and then the 0-1 defeat at The Oval on November 22. Lose.
Kieran Offford scored a hat-trick as the Crusaders beat Dungannon Swifts 4-2 after extra time in Tuesday’s quarter-final. Played at the Seaview Stadium, the game is very entertaining to watch.
