Mia Brookes wins Big Air World Cup gold in Beijing
Britain’s Mia Brooks has impressed in the finals of the Big Air World Cup in Beijing to claim women’s gold.
The 17-year-old slopestyle world champion finished second after the first round but had a disappointing second round.
With her best two-round results, she scored 94.000 points in the final round, the highest score of the day, for a total score of 179.75, her first World Cup title.
Mari Fukada of Japan won the silver medal with 176.75 points, and Olympic champion Anna Gasser from Austria won the bronze medal with 69.00 points.
Brooks is the defending Big Air World Cup Crystal Globe champion and was ranked No. 1 last year.
She started her season with a silver medal at the Freestyle Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup in Cardrona in September and finished fifth at her first Big Air race in Switzerland in October.
