Galaxy Z Fold 6 vs. Z Fold 5 vs. Z Fold 4: A Three-Generation Comparison, Spec by Spec

Samsung launched its latest book-style foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, in July. The Korean company increased the price by $100, bringing the starting price to $1,900.

this Galaxy Z Fold 6 Great strides have been made in durability, with waterproof protection available for the first time. It also has a lighter design and new artificial intelligence capabilities. But overall, this is just an incremental upgrade – just like the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 6appeared with it Samsung has opened the package events a few months ago.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a slightly larger 6.3-inch protective screen that opens like a book into a larger 7.6-inch display. Each display is sharper than previous models, and both have a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone also received a routine processor upgrade to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Samsung says the chip is optimized for artificial intelligence.

The camera setup consists of five cameras, which appear to be the same as those on the Z Fold 5. You can scroll down to our specs sheet for more details about the camera module. Besides the price increase, the more significant changes come from a more compact design and durability. Galaxy Z Fold 6 weighs 239 grams (8.4 ounces), which is Galaxy Z Fold 5weighs 253 grams (8.9 ounces) Galaxy Z Fold 4weighs 263 grams (9.27 ounces). The Z Fold 6 is also slimmer than its predecessor, with the width reduced by more than 1.3 mm compared to the Z Fold 5 and 3.7 mm reduced from the Z Fold 4 when folded.

In addition to eye-watering prices, bulky, book-like foldable designs and poor durability have been obstacles to mass adoption of foldable phones. Samsung has made great strides in both departments, which is promising. Research firms say foldable phones make up only a small part of the overall smartphone market, but that share is growing. Samsung believes artificial intelligence can also help it make up for some shortcomings.

Google’s Gemini app is fully integrated into the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Other features include Live Translation, which translates phone calls in real time directly on your device. It’s unclear whether the new AI features are optimized for foldable phone designs.
