NBA: OG Anunoby helps New York Knicks beat Denver Nuggets
UK’s OG Anunoby scored a career-high 40 points as the New York Knicks defeated the Denver Nuggets 145-118.
Anunoby, who was born in London to Nigerian parents and moved to the United States when he was four, also added five rebounds and four assists.
The 27-year-old’s previous highest score was 36 points against the Knicks for the Toronto Raptors in November 2021.
He also made five 3-pointers and all three free throws in the Denver game.
Anunoby joined the Knicks in a December 2023 trade from Toronto and then signed a five-year contract extension with the team this summer.
He won the 2018-19 NBA Championship with the Raptors in his second NBA season, becoming the only British player to win the title.
Karl-Anthony Towns also had 30 points and 15 rebounds against the Nuggets, while teammate Jalen Brunson scored 23 points and dished out a career-high 17 assists.
The Knicks dominated the first half, scoring 76 points to help them win their fifth in six games, while the Nuggets have now lost two straight games at home.
