Jannik Sinner: Italy’s ‘special one’ completes stellar year at Davis Cup
Sinner won more championships than he lost throughout the season and was very consistent.
He has won eight trophies, including victories in Rotterdam, Miami, Halle, Cincinnati, Shanghai and Turin, as well as his Grand Slam double.
His eight titles and 70 wins make it the most successful season on the ATP Tour since Andy Murray in 2016.
He won three more singles matches in the Davis Cup, meaning he has lost just six times to four opponents this year.
Wimbledon and French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz beat him three times, while also losing to Daniil Medvedev and Andrei Rublev.
Sinner’s lowest-ranked opponent in Monte Carlo was Stefanos Tsitsipas – ranked 12th in the world.
