Guglielmo Vicario: Tottenham goalkeeper has surgery on fractured ankle
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will be out for some time after surgery on a broken ankle.
The 28-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday’s game Premier League win over Manchester City 4-0even though he played the entire game.
Spurs are yet to confirm a timetable for Vicario’s recovery and say he will be assessed by club medical staff to determine when he can return to training.
The Italian goalkeeper has missed just four games since then Joined from Empoli June 2023 – None of them are in the Premier League.
Fraser Forster, 36, has featured in all four matches, including the League Cup win at Coventry in September and the Europa League games against AZ Alkmaar and Galatasaray.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are sixth in the Premier League after beating champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
They have won three and lost one of their opening four games in the Europa League and are in seventh place.
