What is manta sleep?
you may have encountered manta sleep On Instagram or TikTok, it quickly becomes popular. The original Manta Sleeping Mask has over 13,000 reviews on Amazon alone, the brand says it has helped more than a million people sleep better.
Manta offers a variety of sleeping masks at various prices, ranging from $35 for the Original Sleeping Mask to $69 for the Silk Mask. It also offers treatment options such as weighted, cooling or steam eye masks. Other sleep accessories and products such as blue light glasses, earplugs and travel pillowis also available.
Will this mask solve my sleeping problems?
My bedroom has large windows and sheer daytime shades, so I get quite a bit of city lights coming in at night. While this doesn’t bother my husband, it turns me on. Before buying and installing blackout curtains, I wanted to see if a blackout sleep mask would help.
I am one too light sleeper Waking up to the slightest noise, whether it’s my cat purring, a car honking, or the neighbor’s TV. Using sleep headphones to mask these extraneous noises seems like a no-brainer.
This led me to try the more expensive Manta Sound Sleep Mask, which costs $143. In addition to being said to be 100% light-blocking, this sleep mask also has ultra-thin earphones built into it. You can connect to your phone or other device via Bluetooth and listen to music, podcasts or calm voice. This mask is specifically designed for side sleepers, which is another bonus for me since I primarily sleep on my side and stomach.
Initial Thoughts on Manta Sound Sleeping Mask
The mask is very comfortable. Its eyecup is cushioned and roomy, preventing my eyelashes from squeezing the mask — something I didn’t like with other sleep masks I’ve used. The adjustable Velcro straps allowed me to wrap the mask tightly around my head without it seeming to slip around too much (at first).
It’s also lighter and thinner on the sides than expected, and the materials feel high quality. After trying it on and reading the instructions, I connected the mask to the included charging cable until it was fully charged, which took about 2.5 hours.
How effective is it to sleep with the Manta Sound Sleeping Mask?
Let me start by saying this: I am terrible at sleeping. mine sleep latencyor the time it takes to fall asleep, is usually quite long. It takes a while for my brain to quiet down and allow me to fully relax. I also tend to wake up four to five times a night, sometimes more.
I connected the mask’s Bluetooth with my phone and was finally ready for my first night of testing. I chose one brown noise soundscape from calm app and adjust the speaker using the sliding blue tab on the side. The audio quality is impressive. It floated gently above my head, seeming to come from all directions and nowhere at the same time.
I turned the volume down to a comfortable low level, but I could still hear ambient noise including air purifier They were running around the corner of the room, but their voices were faint and sounded far away. The last thing I remember is asking my husband if he could hear the sound my mask was making (he couldn’t, by the way) and I drifted off into a peaceful sleep. That night, if my husband snored or my cat purred on my head, I didn’t notice.
Either I took it off unconsciously, or the mask was next to me when I woke up, so it slipped off at some point. It didn’t seem to matter, though – I still slept well. It only took me a few minutes to fall asleep and I didn’t wake up until the next morning, 6.5 hours later. Thanks to its airy design and perforated material for ventilation, I never felt too warm while wrapping it around my head, which surprised me.
I didn’t charge the mask right away because I wanted to test its battery life, and it lasted nearly three sleeps before dying at some point during the third night. The second and third nights of using the sleeping mask were similar to the first: I fell asleep quickly and spent a lot less time awake than usual. When I wake up in the morning, the mask is always off and I haven’t decided if that’s because I took it off while sleeping or if it just slips off on its own when I move around and change positions.
Does the Manta Sound Sleeping Mask pass the nap test?
Manta Sleep proudly promotes naps. Its website states, “If you don’t take a nap every day, you’re unlikely to reach your full potential. Everything we do is designed to improve lives through better sleep and regular naps.”
I can count them on one hand nap I have come to terms with this in my adult life. Don’t get me wrong – it’s not that I don’t get sleepy in the afternoon. I do. That afternoon slump often hits me like a ton of bricks, but I usually opt for another cup of coffee to get me through the rest of the day. Inspired by Manta’s pro-nap stance, I decided to give it a try.
On a sunny Monday afternoon, I was ready to take my first nap in years. I opened my bedroom windows and blinds to let in all natural light and outside noise to test the mask’s light-blocking and sound-blocking capabilities. I selected a playlist of relaxing sounds on the Calm app, set a timer for 20 minutes, and put my phone into Do Not Disturb mode.
I had a hard time getting the mask on, but I could still see a ray of light coming from the bottom of the eye mask. I don’t think it’s enough to bother me, but it’s worth noting that I wouldn’t consider it a complete blackout in full daylight.
Go into nap mode, my My mind is very busy Sending proactive reminders for all the other tasks I should be doing: walking the dog, running errands, doing the dishes, sending emails—you know the drill. Accompanied by the relaxing sound of rain and meditative music, I took a few deep breaths and finally fell asleep.
It felt like only a few minutes passed before I was woken up by my cell phone alarm. The nap test was a success. The mask prevented me from opening my eyes and checking my phone, and the soft music blocked out most of the external noise from the outside world. I woke up energized and ready to continue the day.
Cleansing Manta Sound Sleeping Mask
The Manta Sound Sleeping Mask is machine washable. This is a great feature, especially for people with: sensitive skin Who needs a sleep mask that can be easily washed regularly to avoid potential irritation or breakouts.
The sleep mask comes with simple care instructions. To clean it, I removed the outer layer and placed the inner strap (without the headphones) and eyecup into the included mesh carrying bag. I machine washed them in cold water and laid them flat to dry, which took about 12 hours for the eye masks and less time for the straps. If desired, you can also partially clean the outer layer of the mask with a wet cloth, but because of the speaker and Bluetooth technology, do not put it in the washing machine.
Refund Policy and Guarantee
My main qualm with the Manta Sound Sleep Mask is that the Velcro strap on the back doesn’t hold in place very well, and I’m worried it will lose its stickiness quickly (especially after regular washing). I also read online reviews from other people who have experienced this.
Luckily, Manta Sleep offers 60 day money back guaranteethe warranty is six months for non-electronics and one year for electronics, so replacing the strap should be an option. Manta Sleep’s customer support seems to be quick to respond to complaints and questions on social media, which is a good sign. It also offers free shipping on all orders within the United States.
