President El-Sisi Meets the Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade – Africa.com
Today, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Engr. Hassan El-Khatib.
The presidential spokesman said the meeting discussed a range of topics, focusing on developing the foreign trade system by facilitating procedures, reducing costs and shortening customs clearance times. It also involves localizing industry, protecting domestic production through the use of trade tools and World Trade Organization (WTO) standards, and making full use of commercial representation systems and offices. The meeting also discussed the development of non-tax financial burden dossiers and the unification of entities dealing with and collecting fees from investors.
Additionally, the discussion reviewed the investments and projects of Egypt’s sovereign fund, as well as the fund’s efforts to attract more investment and maximize returns on its assets under management. The role of the IMF in various sectors was also addressed.
President Sisi directed continued efforts to improve the investment climate and address structural challenges affecting the Egyptian economy.
The President stressed the need to reduce procedural and non-tax financial burdens, which will help strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional center for attracting foreign direct investment in line with national priorities.
President Sisi also affirmed the importance of opening new markets for Egyptian exports, increasing the share of local products in all exports, and establishing Egypt as a key hub for global and regional supply chains.
