Wales v South Africa: Players need to address ‘brutal situation’ – Rowlands
The Springboks arrive in Cardiff on the back of winning the Rugby Championship, with 10 wins from 12 Tests this year underlining the disparity in form between the two teams.
South Africa have lost four of their previous six meetings with Cardiff but overall have won six of their past seven games against Wales.
“We need to leave a performance that we can be proud of,” Rowlands said.
“At the beginning of the fall we discussed three games with the goal of at least two wins.
“We haven’t delivered on that yet, but apart from the result, the last game could be important because everyone was impressed with our performance.”
The experience gap is huge, with South Africa making 963 matchday appearances compared to Wales’ 334.
Rowlands said: “I believe if we play well we can beat South Africa but a good performance will give us momentum going forward.”
“They’re not invincible. They’re a good team and are world champions for a reason, but we have guys on the team who have beaten them before.”
