Merck Foundation marks International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women through their “Our Africa” TV Program, Songs, Children storybooks and Animation Films
Merck Foundation (www.Merck-Foundation.com), the charitable arm of Merck KGaA, Germany, and The First Lady of Africa and Asia and Ambassador of the Merck Foundation is more than just a mother,mark”International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women 2024”. Through the More Than a Mom campaign and the Educate Linda program, the Merck Foundation conducts a variety of community awareness programs to address gender-based violence, empower women and girls at all levels, support girls’ education, and more.

Merck Foundation Pan-African television program “Our Africa”, that is Conceived, produced, directed and co-hosted by Senator Rasha Kelej, Ph.D., CEO of the Merck Foundation Featuring African fashion designers, singers and leading experts from various fields, it aims to raise awareness of social and health issues, with dedicated discussions on issues such as stopping GBV, ending female genital mutilation, women’s empowerment and supporting girls’ education of episodes.

Merck Foundation partners with Africa’s first ladieslaunches an inspiring children’s storybook—— “It’s not who you are” Raise awareness about gender-based violence and educate children about this sensitive social issue so that they learn to respect girls and women from an early age, and “More than just a mother” Family values of love and respect are emphasized and reinforced from an early age, inculcating the idea that women are more than just mothers, they are productive members of society. In addition, children’s storybooks such as “Educating Linda”, “Jacklin’s Rescue” and “Ride the future” Campaigns were also launched to support girls’ education. Storybooks have also been adapted into fun and engaging animated films. The animated films are available in four languages: English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
