Will Rigg: Exeter Chiefs centre on turning cricket dream into rugby reality
Rigg made his debut at Exeter as a substitute away at Newcastle in March, before making his first start at Sale a week later, where he joined Manu Tuilagi and Rob Dupreez. Fighting alongside the likes of George Ford.
His first start of the season came against Harlequin, where he also scored his first top-flight try, before touching down three times in Exeter’s subsequent two Premiership Cup games.
Exeter director of rugby Rob Baxter told BBC Sport: “I think his ability with the ball has been improving and you will see that in the Prem Cup games he Looks like a very dangerous player on the ball.”
“What we have to try to do is stay confident, go get the ball, work hard with the ball, find space and attack space.
“We made some adjustments to our defensive system and everyone saw that and I think it will suit him better and give him more time to evaluate his defensive responsibilities.
“But certainly in the last few weeks, he’s really started to take off.”
