Lewis Hamilton says ‘nothing can take me down’ after Sao Paulo GP low

After losing to Max Verstappen on the final lap of the season, Hamilton did not win a race in the 2022 and 2023 seasons as Mercedes struggled to adapt to the new rules.

The team appeared to have overcome the odds, winning three of four races in the middle of the season, with Hamilton triumphing at the British and Belgian Grands Prix.

However, he and teammate George Russell were involved in a series of incidents at last month’s United States Grand Prix, with Hamilton unhappy with the handling of his car in Brazil.

Hamilton said of his troubles in Sao Paulo: “In the hottest moments I would certainly rather just relax on the beach and go ‘I don’t need to do this’.”

He added: “It wasn’t a good feeling in the moment but I’m here, I’m standing strong and I’m going to give it my all in the last few games.

“Nothing can bring me down. I have a team that I still really love and even if I’m leaving, I want to give them the best I can in the next games.

“If they deliver a car that wants to stay on track, then hopefully we can get better results.”
