Cloud Gaming Comes to PlayStation Portal

PlayStation Remote Player just got even more portable. A new system update released late Tuesday will allow players to use Portal to cloud stream games without needing to be connected to a PlayStation 5. Until now, Portal has only been able to play games remotely from a PlayStation 5, and you’d usually have to do this on the same network for the best results, but now you’ll be able to actually take the device with you and play on the go.

In an article about PlayStation BlogSony says the update will allow more than 120 titles to be played during beta access. These games are exclusive to the PlayStation Plus catalog, which you can access by becoming a PS Plus Premium member – the most expensive membership costs $18 per month.

Of course, you’ll need a good internet connection to play cloud gaming, and once the beta launches, Sony recommends 7Mbps for 720p and 13Mbps for 1080p.

We’ll be testing and showcasing the update as soon as it becomes available, so stay tuned.
