Great Britain diving coach Jane Figueiredo given IOC lifetime achievement award

Team GB diving head coach Jane Figueiredo has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Team GB won five medals at the Paris Olympics last summer, with Noah Williams and Tom Daley taking silver in the men’s 10m synchronized event.

Figueiredo, 60, has been the head diving coach of Team GB since 2014.

“Coaching has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl and receiving this award is a dream come true,” she said.

Of Figueiredo, Daley added: “She taught me over the years what it means to be a true professional athlete.

“She impacted a lot of people, not just me and my diving career, both in and out of the pool.”

Figueiredo was born in Zimbabwe and represented Portugal at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles before competing and coaching at the University of Houston.
