Arsenal Women: Champions League tie with Bayern Munich moved to Meadow Park after Uefa dispensation
Arsenal will play Bayern Munich in a high-profile Women’s Champions League match at Boreham Wood’s Grass Park after UEFA granted the club special exemption.
The Emirates Stadium was originally scheduled to host the Group C match on December 18, but Schedule conflict With the Arsenal Men’s Team.
Mikel Arteta’s side are due to play a Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace on the same day, but the date cannot be changed as the Eagles have televised Premier League games last Sunday and next Saturday.
The facilities at Meadow Park currently do not meet UEFA requirements, but Arsenal said in a statement that a “unique combination of factors” had allowed the venue change to be approved by European football’s governing body.
The Gunners also thanked fans for their “patience and understanding”.
Meadow Park is Boreham Wood FC’s 4,500-capacity stadium and has been the traditional home ground for Arsenal Women’s Super League matches.
The Gunners said fans who bought tickets for Champions League matches at the Emirates Stadium will automatically receive a full refund.
They will then have a 24-hour priority access window to purchase new tickets.
Arsenal said in a statement: “We would like to thank members of our supporters’ groups for providing valuable feedback during this time, which has been reflected in our dialogue with UEFA.”
“We also thank UEFA for their cooperation in finding a workable outcome.”
