West Indies vs England: Fifth T20 washed out by rain as visitors win series 3-1

The fifth and final T20 match of the series between England and West Indies was washed away by heavy rain in St Lucia.

England captain Jos Buttler elected to bat first and the home side were 44-0 after five overs before the downpour began.

The ground crew attempted to clear the wet outfield for a restart, but the game was eventually abandoned without a result at 22:15 GMT.

West Indies openers Evin Lewis and Shai Hope, who hit 29 and 14 respectively, will look to add to their stellar partnership after posting 136 in nine overs . The fourth T20.

England lost the one-day international series 2-1 but won the T20 series 3-1.

Opener Phil Salt became the leading run-scorer of the series with 162 runs in four innings, including an unbeaten 103 in the first T20 against West Indies Captain Rovman Powell is second with 153 points.

England seamer Saqib Mahmood, the leading wicket-taker, was rested in the final game after suffering nine scalp injuries in four games.

England will play three Test matches in New Zealand starting on November 27, with the white-ball side taking on India in January.

This will be Brendan McCullum’s first assignment as white-ball head coach.
