Warren Gatland: Wales head coach considers future after record loss.

World champion South Africa arrive in the Welsh capital next Saturday.

Wales then face France in a tight Six Nations opener in Paris on January 31.

In a sign that there won’t be an immediate end to this miserable run of form, Gatland said he’s not sure he wants to be in charge of the Springboks and subsequent Six Nations.

He insists Wales are determined to turn things around next weekend.

“When you’re involved in professional sports, those challenges are what define you as a person,” Gatland said.

“When you walk out of the arena, there are a lot of people looking at you. That’s how you face challenges.

“You can bury your head in the sand and walk away, or you can roll up your sleeves and block out the white noise. Hopefully we can put in a better performance and show some character against the world champions.”

Gatland had a passionate message for Wales fans after Australia’s defeat.

“We’re really hurt starting today,” Gatland said.

“The support the fans have given us over the years has been outstanding.

“We probably let them down a little bit. So we need to go out next week and make up for it with a performance that makes them proud.”
