Ireland 22-19 Argentina: Andy Farrell pleased as Irish ‘win ugly’ against impressive Pumas

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell says Ireland are “getting there” after keeping their composure during a 22-19 win over Argentina in a chaotic Autumn Nations Series.

Ireland led 12-0 at half-time and were 13 points ahead after their 19-game unbeaten run at home was ended by New Zealand.

But Ireland were held scoreless in the second half against a resurgent Argentina, with the Cougars just one step away from a historic first win on Irish soil.

“It’s a three or four game, isn’t it?” Farrell said.

“Obviously, the biggest feeling is we’re happy to get the win. There were some things we needed to learn last week and some things we didn’t address on the field.

“We said last week we had a chance to win in ugly fashion. We did that this week, so that’s a plus.”
