President-elect Donald Trump’s new Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE) is hiring, and according to the office’s co-leader and the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, it won’t be a glamorous or lucrative place to work .

The department is accepting applications from “hyper-intelligent small government revolutionaries” whose mission is to: Cut $2 trillion From the annual federal budget. The department added that candidates must be “willing to work more than 80 hours a week to cut tedious costs”.

Interested candidates were encouraged to send resumes to the department via direct message on Thursday. Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will personally review the “top 1% of applicants,” the post said. Some commenters pointed out that the account’s private messages were closed at the time. According to X’s profile labeling policy, eligible federal government organizations include “principal executive office accounts, agency accounts overseeing specific policy areas, major embassy and consulate accounts, and parliamentary or equivalent agency and committee accounts.”

The threat of deep cuts in government spending has weighed on stocks of major federal contractors this week. Shares in defense contractor Leidos (LDOS) has lost 22% of its value since DOGE was announced. momentum(AMTM), another major federal contractor, fell about 19% during the same period.
