Veteran boxer Mike Tyson faced off against Jake Paul in an eight-round heavyweight boxing match on Friday night. Paul, who made his name as a YouTuber before turning to boxing professionally in 2020, won a fight that most viewers described as a “unanimous decision” sloppy.

Tyson’s career began in the 1980s, earning legendary status in the ring as a heavyweight champion before retiring in 2005 and then donning the gloves for a few years in exhibition matches. The 58-year-old’s last fight was in 2020 against another former world champion, Roy Jones Jr. Paul, 27, has been training for months after the initial fight was postponed. Netflix’s documentary records the training process of the two, Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson.

Thursday night, Tyson slapped Paul During the weigh-in, Paul climbed onto the stage, stepped on Tyson’s feet and stood in his face, and the two got into a standoff.

Paul and Tyson have been promoting this Netflix Showdown The full-year competition has been postponed from its original date of July 20. The event will be broadcast live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with a series of preliminaries leading up to Friday night’s main event.

Roy Jones Jr., Mauro Ranallo and Rosie Perez provided sideline commentary. Sean Wheelock serves as rules and scoring specialist and Mark Calo-oy serves as referee.
