Nick Kyrgios to return to competitive tennis at the Brisbane International in December

Nick Kyrgios says he is feeling “fit and well” after announcing he will return to the Brisbane Internationals at the end of December.

The 29-year-old Australian has played just one singles match on the ATP Tour in two years due to knee, foot and wrist injuries.

The Brisbane event kicks off the 2025 season and is a warm-up match for the Australian Open, which starts on January 12.

“It’s been a long recovery process to get to where I am today,” Kyrgios said.

“One of the goals I’ve set is to be able to race in the Australian summer so I’m excited to get started in Brisbane, one of my favorite races.”

In October, Kyrgios, who was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the 2022 Wimbledon final, said he planned to return in December world tennis league events In Abu Dhabi.

He defeated American Ryan Harrison in the final of the 2018 Brisbane International to win the title, which will be his fourth appearance at the event.

“I feel healthy and I’m excited to be back in tennis after some time away from the sport,” Kyrgios said.
