Grand Slam of Darts 2024 results: Luke Littler into quarter-finals with thrilling fightback against Mike de Decker
Luke Littler produced a stunning comeback to beat Mike de Decker 10-9 to reach the Darts Grand Slam quarter-finals.
The 17-year-old was on the verge of exiting the match after trailing 7-9, but won three consecutive rounds to secure a meeting with Jermaine Wattimena.
Littler led 2-0, but Dedecker equalized and Dedecker seemed to gain momentum as the game wore on.
The Belgian went down 8-4, but Littler rallied with an 11th provincial leg.
Dedecker had a chance to win at 170, but missed the target before Littler tied the match at 9-9.
In the deciding game, Littler remained calm and composed, shooting a triple of 18 and a double of 16 to seal the victory and advance to the quarterfinals.
“I don’t know if I like it. I have to feel for Mike. I don’t think I’m in the game but I know I can always switch gears,” Littler told Sky Sports.
“My speed was normal at first, but towards the end I took an extra second, which helped me. I’ll probably have to pitch like that from now on.
“I didn’t think I could reverse the deficit (in the last game). I couldn’t believe it.”
Earlier at Wolves, Vatimena had a thrilling 10-9 victory over Dimitri van den Berg, while Gian van Veen beat Ryan Joyce 10-2.
