Grand Slam of Darts 2024 results: Cameron Menzies into quarter-finals after thrilling 10-9 win over James Wade
Cameron Menzies has reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts with a thrilling 10-9 victory over James Wade.
The 35-year-old was in the driver’s seat early on, but Wade fought back to lead 7-5, with Menzies only returning to form as the match entered the decider.
Menzies twice missed a double-top chance to win but Wade could not check out 98 and the Scot closed it out at the third time of asking.
“I’m over the moon. I had to call in sick on Thursday,” Menzies, who also works as a plumber, joked on Sky Sports.
“I think for the first time in my life I had a little bit of luck. I was just praying to something I didn’t know existed.”
Menzies will face Mickey Mansell after a 10-7 victory over Danny Noppert.
Elsewhere, Rob Cross advanced to the quarter-finals with a 10-4 win over Ritchie Edhouse.
Kroos will face Martin Lookman, who beat Ross Smith 10-5 to earn his spot.
