How much data can be stored on Gmail?

If you frequently send or receive emails that contain large files such as videos, or if you find yourself uploading a lot of pictures and videos to Google Photos, it won’t be long before you see the “Account Storage Full” notification. How to transfer your Gmail messages to a new email account
Before starting the Gmail transfer process, we recommend that you back up your emails. You can do this by downloading the email to your computer or external hard drive. To back up your Gmail messages, visit google takeout. Using our test Gmail account (which contains about 75,000 messages), we downloaded a copy of the messages from Google Takeout in about 2 hours.
Once you’ve saved a copy of your emails, you can start transmitting them. Here are the steps you need to take:
1. First log into your original Gmail account, click on the “gear” icon in the upper right corner, then click View all settings.

You may need to create a Google app password to transfer Gmail messages
We tested the Gmail mail transfer process twice, and both times the standard password for the Gmail account didn’t work. After some research, we determined that we needed to create a temporary “App Password” to sync the accounts.
The Google App Password is a 16-digit password created specifically for “less secure” applications or devices to access your Google Account. They work exactly like your Google passwords.
If your regular Google password doesn’t sync your Gmail account, please visit https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords Create an application password. Just create a name for the password – we used “Transfer Bulk Email” – and click the “Create” button. You will see a pop-up window with your new 16-digit password.
After creating the application password, return to step 6 of the instructions above and use the new application password instead of your usual password.
Important: Google will only display your app password once. Once you create it, you cannot ask to see it again, so be sure to write it down or otherwise record it after you create it.
Google’s own help center It is mentioned that “the use of application passwords is not recommended and is not necessary in most cases”. Therefore, we recommend that you delete your app password after you complete the Gmail message transfer.
What happens after my Gmail account syncs?
Once you’ve successfully linked your new Gmail archive account to your original account, your emails should start transferring automatically. The process may take a few hours or days, depending on how many emails you have.
In our test account with approximately 75,000 messages, we found that it took Gmail approximately 2 days to transfer all messages from the original account to the new archived mail account.
important: After you transfer Gmail messages to an archived mail account, your original Gmail account will put all of those messages into a Trash folder, which you’ll need to empty manually. It took about an hour to clear the 75,000 messages from the trash.
Before transferring Gmail messages, our test account used a little more than 12GB of space, or 80% of Google’s free 15GB. After the transfer, the account only used 0.66GB, of which 0.06GB came from Gmail.
Which Gmail messages won’t be transferred?
We found that Gmail transferred all of our emails except two categories – drafts and spam.
You need to manually decide what to do with the draft. Spam is automatically deleted every 30 days, so you can let Gmail handle the issue, or you can go to your spam folder yourself and delete or forward the messages after they’re transmitted.
Once you’ve imported all your email into your new account, enjoy the inbox zero experience. You’ve given new life to your original account.
At this point, there are two final steps: you need to stop the automatic transfer process so that you can continue to use the original account, and if you had to create an app password, you need to delete the app password.
1. Log into your new account and go to your set up and select View all settings.

If you don’t plan to use your archived account to send email on a regular basis, you can still keep your account active by logging in at least once every two years.
