Champion of Champions: Neil Robertson beats Judd Trump to reach semi-finals
Neil Robertson beat world number one Judd Trump 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Champions of Champions in Bolton.
England’s Trump won the first set with 69 points, but Robertson then won three consecutive games, scoring 90, 84 and 59 points on a single stroke to lead 3-1.
Two and a half centuries later, Trump tied the score at 3-3, but the Australian won the next two games, including the eighth game that lasted nearly an hour, and ended with an equally tense game. Victory sealed.
Robertson will now face three-time world champion Mark Williams of Wales in the semi-finals on Saturday (19:00 GMT).
Earlier on Wednesday, the 42-year-old Robertson shot a 110 to beat Ali Carter 4-3. Trump has defeated Ding Junhui 4-0.
On Thursday, Ronnie O’Sullivan will face Xiao Guodong (13:00), while Mark Selby will face Sean Murphy (14:00).
