ATP Finals: Carlos Alcaraz beats Andrey Rublev & Alexander Zverev defeats Casper Ruud
Zverev, who is seeking his third ATP Finals title, followed up his victory over Rublev with a straight-sets win over Norwegian sixth seed Ruud.
Ruud missed just six first serves in the opening set, but Zverev dominated the tiebreak without earning any break points in the first 12 games.
With 1 hour and 20 minutes left in the match, Zverev finally broke serve in the second set, leading 5-3 and winning on serve.
“I think it’s actually a really good game for both of us,” he said. “I’m happy to win today, but it was very, very close.”
