Wasps: Former Premiership club secure land to build new stadium in Kent

Former Premier League club Wasps are a step closer to returning to professional rugby after securing land in Kent to build a new stadium.

Six-time Premier League champions were relegated after moving into the Premier League Two years ago, government debt stood at £95 million.

They were subsequently banned from last season’s championship but Apply to re-enter the second tier in the 2025-26 season.

Club owner Christopher Holland said the club had secured a ten-year option on private land as part of a wider development plan for Swanley in Kent.

“It is gratifying that we have successfully achieved this milestone with the support of key stakeholders,” he said.

“It brings us closer to our desire to establish a new home in the area and hopefully demonstrates our commitment to sustainably restoring the wasp.”

Sevenoaks District Council says the stadium development in suburban Swanley is being driven by the club as part of the area’s new local plan and the public will be able to have a say before the plans are finalized.

“Furthermore, the Wasp scheme will require planning consent, which will once again give the public the opportunity to have their say and actively participate in the process,” a council spokesman said.
