UFC 309: Paul Craig ‘more excited to fight before Spiderman than Trump’
Paul Craig says he’s more excited about “fighting in front of Spider-Man” than being Donald Trump, as the Scot prepares to meet Beau Nicholls at Madison Square Garden as part of UFC 309.
Craig, 36, will take on the American in a middleweight bout in the main event of Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic’s heavyweight title fight.
There are reports that Nickel, a Trump supporter and friend, claims that the US president-elect has told him that he may attend UFC 309 to watch him fight Craig.
“He’s not my president – he’s the president of the United States,” Craig told BBC Sport Scotland.
“I’m more excited about the opportunity to fight in front of Spider-Man (actor) Tom Holland in London.
“It doesn’t matter who’s in the crowd. You just have a job to do. You’ve got to handle your stuff, and that’s what I want to do.
“But I think when you think about it, one of the most powerful men in the world is sitting in the crowd, watching you from the sidelines.
“It’s cool, it’s one of those stories you can tell your kids or grandkids when you grow up.”
