President Ramkalawan sends congratulatory message to Prime Minister-elect Ramgoolam of Mauritius – Africa.com
Mr. Wawel Ramkalavan, President of the Republic of Seychelles, sent a message to His Excellency Mr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam to congratulate him on his election as the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius.
President Ramkalavan said in his speech
“It is my pleasure to express my warmest congratulations on your election as the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius. This mandate from the people of Mauritius is a testament to their trust in your leadership and vision for a prosperous future.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1988, Seychelles and Mauritius have enjoyed excellent bilateral relations based on mutual respect and shared values, and have continued to build strength and momentum. As close neighbors, our two countries are connected by rich historical, geographical and cultural ties. and a unified vision for regional cooperation, peace and sustainable development.
Seychelles remains committed to advancing our shared goals through strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations. My visit to Mauritius in February this year provided a valuable opportunity to deepen our long-term relationship and lay a solid foundation for future cooperation. The potential for us to learn from each other is enormous, and I look forward to working together to benefit our two peoples and the wider Indian Ocean region.
Furthermore, our engagement through the Indian Ocean Commission is an important platform for promoting regional solidarity and addressing common challenges. I would like to express our gratitude to Mauritius for the support we received from Seychelles during its tenure as Chairman of the Indian Ocean Commission.
