The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has entered into an agreement with Dangote Refinery to extract petrol, diesel and other products directly from its plant in Lagos. The partnership, announced by IPMAN Country President Abubakar Garima, is expected to stabilize and reduce fuel prices while ensuring stable supply across the country. Garima further stated that IPMAN’s decision was taken after a meeting with Aliko Dangote’s team. He expressed confidence that the arrangement would support the government’s “New Hope” agenda by creating jobs and increasing local refining capacity. Garima also encouraged IPMAN members to rely on Dangote and other Nigerian refineries to produce white product (a refined petroleum) instead of importing it. Furthermore, the IPMAN Chairman stressed that the association intends to work with the government to expand Nigeria’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure with the aim of promoting energy diversification and supporting Nigeria’s long-term economic benefits.
