Jacob Bethell has skills to play Test cricket – Adil Rashid
In addition to Bessel’s performance, captain Jos Buttler is also in good shape to return from injury.
In the second match of the series on Sunday, Buttler recalled his devastating best form as he plundered 83 off 45 balls, including six sixes.
Buttler has been out injured for four months but says the absence has left him “determined” to lead England’s latest white-ball reset, which will begin when Brendan McCullum takes over as head coach. One year of acceleration.
McCullum said part of his role was to cheer up Buttler, who he said had been “painful” at times amid England’s recent limited-overs woes.
However, Rashid said the smile has returned to the captain’s face.
“He was calm and relaxed anyway, but I think that’s natural for everyone, you can’t smile all the time,” he said.
“Playing cricket you always have your ups and downs and maybe sometimes you don’t smile but I think that’s an important part of being a cricketer.
“When he came back he showed his level. He showed he was capable of winning games and how much he is missed when he’s not playing. He’s a world-class player and captain.”
Yorkshire’s Rashid spoke to mark the launch of a new charity cookbook called A Taste of Cricket, published by the England and Wales Cricket Board to celebrate the diversity of cricket teas.
Rashid also contributed, enjoying his favorite Moroccan tagine at Lord’s restaurant.
