Apple releases second public beta iOS 18.2 Nov. 12, a day after the company released a third developer beta of the software. Beta released two weeks after Apple iOS 18.1 to the public at large. While iOS 18.1 brings some new features and fixes to all iPhones, there are a few Apple smart features arrive OthersThe latest beta version brings more AI capabilities to some developers and testers. There are also new features in the beta that are not part of Apple Intelligence, so everyone can access them.

Since this is a beta version, I recommend only downloading it on a device other than your main device. Since this isn’t the final version of iOS 18.2, the update may be buggy and battery life may be short, so it’s best to keep these hassles to a secondary device.
Please note that the beta version is not the final version of iOS 18.2, so there may be more features coming to your iPhone when iOS 18.2 is released. There’s no word yet on when Apple will release iOS 18.2 to the public.
Here are some of the features coming to iPhone in iOS 18.2. Please note that AI features are currently only available to developers and beta testers who own an iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, or iPhone 16 series. If you have any other iPhone, you won’t be able to use these features.
Find my upgrades
The Find My app can be used to locate items like AirPods and MacBooks, and with iOS 18.2 Beta, Apple is making it easy for everyone to get help finding their lost items. In the beta version, if you enter Find My > Projects and click on one of yours, you have two new options: Share project location and Show contact information.
If you enable Share project locationFind My will create a link that you can share with others so they can notify you when they find your lost or lost item. This can be especially helpful as we head into the holiday season, as more people are traveling and losing luggage or leaving items behind at the airport. However, these links will expire after a week, which may not be enough time to find them.
If you enable Show Contact Information, others can connect to your lost item so they can find a way to contact you and bring the item back to you.
New mail category
The Mail app on every iPhone is also getting an upgrade in iOS 18.2 Beta. Apple announced in September that Mail would soon be able to sort emails into categories, keeping important emails in one place and ads or promotions in another, just like Gmail and Outlook. The new layout keeps most of the content tidy, but the emails don’t always look right. For example, I found an email with digital tickets that I had previously ordered in the “Promotion” category instead of the “Main” category.
You don’t have to use the new layout if you don’t want to. To change the layout of your return email, go into Mail and click the three dots (…) and click on the upper right corner list view.
Genmon Temple
have Over 3,000 emojis You can use it, but sometimes you can’t find what you really want. Genmoji is here to help. With Apple Smart Genmon Temple feature, you can describe the emoji you are looking for, and iPhone with Apple Intelligence will try to generate new emojis based on your description.
To use Genmoji, go into Messages and tap the emoji keyboard in the lower left corner of the keyboard. Then enter the emoji you’re looking for in the search bar. If no emoji matches your description, tap Create new emoji Just below the search bar. Your iPhone will then show you some examples based on your description. You can swipe through emojis and when you find a Genmoji you like, tap Add to in the upper right corner permanently adds the new emoji to the keyboard.
visual intelligence
This is Apple’s answer to Google Lens. visual intelligence is an Apple Intelligence feature that lets you point your camera at something (such as a dog) and your iPhone will use that photo to conduct an online search to help you identify it. The feature can also be used to detect phone numbers to create contacts, scan QR codes and translate languages.
You can also integrate this feature with ChatGPT to help you identify items and help you better understand what’s on the page or screen. It’s important to note that you don’t need a ChatGPT account to use the integration.
This feature is also only available on the iPhone 16 series, as it uses the series’ new side button for camera controls. If you have a newer iPhone, press and hold the new side button where the SIM card tray is to quickly bring up Visual Intelligence.
“Camera Controls provide instant and easy access to your camera with just one click. It allows you to adjust various camera features with just the swipe of your finger,” Apple said during its “Glowtime” event in September. “Its convenient design Make sure it’s always within reach.”
Image Playground
This Apple Intelligence feature takes Genmoji a step further, allowing you to create entire images based on text prompts called Image Playgrounds. This feature is a standalone app and can also be accessed by clicking the plus sign (+) button is located to the left of the text box.
Image Playground is filled with tips, themes, places, and more to help you get started. You can enter multiple tips to make the image more specific, but once I entered seven tips, a popup appeared telling me to use fewer tips. There is also an option to change the art style from the default cartoon 3D image to illustration.
If you want to put yourself, your friends and family, or your pets into one of the images, you can. Click the plus sign (+) Sign in the lower right corner and click Select photo or Photograph. In addition to photos, you still need to select or enter a prompt.
This feature can create some simple images that may be unintentionally weird and interesting with other images. In one example, I chose the prompts Astronaut, Artist, and Lighthouse. One result I can only describe as a half-astronaut propped up on an easel with a frame around it, opposite another easel with a lighthouse painted on it. Excellent work.
You can also sketch in Notes, select the sketch, and use it with the Visual Playground. This way you can clean up your sketch, or if you’re not an artist like me, you can use this feature to flesh out your sketch.

Glowing Siri and ChatGPT
Apple announced at WWDC in May that its virtual assistant Siri was about to enter a “new era” thanks to enhancements to Apple Intelligence. With iOS 18.2 Beta, Apple has brought most of the enhancements to some iPhones.
With Apple Intelligence, when you activate Siri, you’ll see a light flash around the screen instead of seeing a logo pop up on the screen. You can use Siri as usual, or you can use ChatGPT to query.
I asked Siri to show me how to brew a cup of coffee using ChatGPT, which wrote out a seven-step process for brewing coffee in a standard brewer. The instructions were a little weird, telling me to measure out the water and coffee grounds before grinding the beans. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of these ChatGPT requests that reads “Check important information for errors.”
You can also copy what Siri and ChatGPT show you by clicking the button in the upper right corner of the window that displays the two sheets of paper. You can then paste this into a message or comment if needed – but again, you should verify the requested details.
Requires camera screen switching
If you have an iPhone 16 series phone, you can use the Camera Control button. If the screen is asleep or inactive, you have to press this button twice to turn on the camera, but Apple is introducing a new toggle button in the iOS 18.2 public beta so you can press it once to control the camera even if the screen is off to open the camera.
To do this, go to Settings > Display & Brightness Then click the toggle next to Requires screen to be on Disable this feature. Now, if you press Camera Control when the screen is off, your iPhone will open the camera without having to press it again. However, this may also result in accidentally opening the camera more frequently.
These are some of the new features that public beta testers can try in the second iOS 18.2 public beta. There will likely be more betas before this version of the operating system is released to the public, so Apple has plenty of time to make changes to these features. As of now, there is no word on when Apple will release iOS 18.2 to the public.
