Fortnite OG Returns for Good In December, With Original Maps, Loot and More
Fortnite players, get ready to party like it’s 2017. On Tuesday, Epic Games announced that Fortnite OG will be returning on December 6, and this time, it’s going to be permanent. Fortnite OG allows players to experience the game as it was when it was first released in September 2017.
“Relive the battle royale from the beginning, explore OG maps, collect OG loot, and relive the OG season,” the social media message said. “Come back on December 6.”
Representatives for Epic Games did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This return will be nostalgic for some players and brand new for others.
“This map has been around since about half the players were born,” One Instagram commenter said.

Another said, “Kids don’t know what to do, ‘This isn’t Fortnite.'”
Fortnite OG was relaunched for a limited time in November 2023 and is apparently doing well. December 2023 “Fortnite” official social media account tweeted The returns “exceeded our expectations … to the point where we hope to bring it back (in 2024).”

Fortnite OG’s 2023 return only lasted a month, but this one will be permanent.
Fortnite isn’t the only game to have a retro resurgence. Overwatch announced on November 12 Overwatch Classic Modeplayers can play as one of the game’s original 21 heroes. However, this won’t last like it did with Fortnite OG. The Overwatch Classic is a three-week event in Overwatch 2.
The other two games, CAll mission theaters and apex legendis also experimenting with nostalgic gaming, thanks to the successful return of Fortnite OG.
