Queen to miss Remembrance events after chest infection
Buckingham Palace said the Queen will miss this weekend’s commemorations while she recovers from a chest infection.
A statement said Queen Camilla was “following guidance from her doctors to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection and to protect others from any potential risk”.
“While this is a huge disappointment for the Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week,” the statement said.
On Friday it was confirmed that the Princess of Wales will attend commemorative events in London this weekend as she gradually returns to public duties following cancer treatment.
The Queen, 77, withdrew from the event earlier this week.
She missed Thursday’s opening of the annual Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, where the Duchess of Gloucester attended on her behalf.
The Queen returned to the UK last Wednesday after visiting Australia and Samoa with the King, which included a stop in India on her return journey.
